descriptionTwo fragments joining to form the plume and edge of a griffin's eye. Length: 10.0 cm; width: 3.8 cm. Whole fragment: 2.5 cm thick. The lower part with the corner of the eye on it (03TR11U04stn05) was found on 19 July 2003 in rubble fill in the west part of Trench 11 (unit 4). The upper part with the curl (03TR11U08stn35) was found on 4 August 2003 in the burned rubble debris above the pavement of Trench 11 (unit 8), near the south section. The join between the two was found in 2005. The fragments are broken through the relief decoration. To the left of the plume, the tip of one of the ears is preserved. Incised tool marks can be seen around the plume curl next to the corner of the eye.
