Properties1
descriptionThe front of the block is carved in deep relief depicting two antithetical crouching sphinxes, faces turned forward, the inner forelegs raised as though holding up the overhanging ledge above. A large mortice hole in the top of the block housed the tenon of the limestone statue. The plinth now comprises the main block and several sculpted fragments that have broken away from the carved face and cannot be joined.
